Campaign Setting
Dark ForestBook
In Dark Forest, you won’t just brave dungeons; you’ll navigate the canopies of colossal trees, hidden abbey crypts, and long-forgotten Vallari ruins—all while playing an otter warrior, owlfolk mystic, or even a mouse monk!
What do you get in this book?
16 New Ancestries
Stand in the pawprints (or talons!) of mice, badgers, hedgehogs, otters, rats, darkwings, owlfolk, hawkfolk, squirrel, fox, and more. Each ancestry offers unique abilities that bring the vibrant woodland to life—flying short distances, rolling into defensive balls, gliding from tree to tree, or forging ahead with unstoppable badger grit.
6 New Classes
Adapted seamlessly to Shadowdark:
- Brewmaster - A stout brewer of arcane concoctions. The alchemist of the forest.
- Reaver - A fighter from the wildlands, filled with bloodrage and fighting prowress.
- Warrior – Ferocious frontline fighters, masters of cunning melee tactics.
- Warmonk – Spiritual warriors channeling divine power for healing and martial power.
- Scout – Swift and silent wilderness experts, combining rogue stealth with a ranger’s cunning.
- Sage – Arcane scholars entwined with nature, merging natural mysticism and wizardly might.
80+ New Spells & Concoctions
From Circle of Withering to Ironbark Brew, these incantations and concoctions tap into ancient forest magic, celestial blessings, and the primal forces unleashed by the lost civilization of the Vallari.
60+ Magic Items
Arm yourself with relics like the Greenbrier Sabre, the Wicker Owl, and Maratin’s Legendary Set—fabled arms and armor once wielded by heroic woodland champions. Each item resonates with the land’s living magic or echoes the cataclysmic past.
90+ Monsters
Battle cunning sea rat raiders, face off against a horde of vermin raiders, destroy horrific animalistic undead, or quell beasts twisted by tainted Vallari magic. These creatures combine the menace of woodland beasts with a savage, Shadowdark RPG twist.
